I pilot stock 'mechs all the time I personally like the Cataphract 3L, Madcat MKII, and Mad dog prime. it can be quite fun.

I have a similar build on the 5S. The 3rd LRM15A is in the left arm, but it also has a LL in the right arm and a pair of MLs in the CT for "close" ranged fire. It's a build I came up with for TableTop, and was one of the first mechs I built in MWO. LRMs have really taken a hit from weapon changes lately, and it seems that unless you really boat them, then they're not really effective.

The 2R was my first heavy, and given its similarities to the Tempest, is the reason why I have not picked the Tempest up yet. I run the 2R with 3 MRM20s and small lasers. It has been a very solid loadout for me. I got my first 1000+ damage in that mech.

I love my Tempest. I run it with two ALRM-15's, six ERML and get my own locks. The laser armament is credible damage, and nailing things with the lasers is essentially as good as a TAG if they don't have ECM. (And locking something under ECM with a TAG takes forever anyway, I'd rather just light up with the ERMLs and move on.) Regarding replay value... Remember, we didn't need any sandboxes to replay MW2. You just do it again because you can't get enough of stomping around and making mechs go boom

Hmmm... The last time I enjoyed LRM-boats it was on a Huntsman because those things have a good ability to flank, jump jet to good spots and due to clan space magic they still pack a good punch.

LRM's are Broken... Cauldron fecked around with them so much, they're just sad... LRM's should NOT be a team effort, ye should be able to point, and shoot, like they were before... But everyone cried and whined about them... Cauldron is WRONG, on MANY things Mechwarrior / BattleTech... Feck the Cauldron...

Any news on physical copies and any collector’s editions?

Is it ever worth having NARC and LRM on one mech? Does NARC help with any other targeting like SRM, or holding information for friendlies?

I'm guessing (hoping?) that we'll get a branching path where we either defect, or go all-in with the war crimes. Going with the Jaguars was a very interesting - even brave - choice. Until the WOBies and Melvina Hazen show up later, the invasion-era Jaguars were the closest thing to a clear-cut "bad" faction in Battletech. The Wolves and later the Bears were the "nice clans", the Jade Falcon were the "bad but honorable and present a balanced Crusader POV" clan, and the Jaguars where the "we're just all a-holes" clan. To the point that everyone was suddenly rooting for the Combine, who had been mostly the "baddies" of Battletech until then. I'm excited. I generally don't like playing bad guys, but I love this setting so much (and no faction is innocent - we're mainly attacking pirates and the Combine, who are *emphatically* not innocent) that I'm super interested in how they tell this story. Heck, if they do have branching paths, I'll probably play every branch.

As far as 'Movie' Content and 'Narrative Storytelling', that means little to me. If you want to make a Movie, MAKE a Movie. Videogames are NOT MOVIES and shouldn't try to be. For example, the very popular, 'Last of Us', games, are in fact, Movies, with Mini-Game Sequences smashed in, to give the player the illusion of participating in the story, when the truth is, they have no effect on the narrative. People seem to think that makes it 'better', but since you can watch all the movie clips and get the exact same story, what IS the point of the Mini-games? It's emotional Manipulation, pure and simple. So, it appears that MW5- Clans, is going to be structured the exact same way. Big deal. The only nice thing I can say about that is that at least it doesn't pretend to be an RPG.

I just hope that co-op is solid. Playing from the start to the end together, with everyone changing and tweaking their 'mechs along the way.

Over 1k hours in MW5: Mercs, I've greatly enjoyed learning the ins and outs of tweaking 'mech builds and commanding my mechwarriors on the battlefield, both in vanilla and modded. I can't wait to get into MW5: Clans and learn new systems and use new tools! It definitely seems like Piranha took the feedback from Mercs and made something awesome. Ultimately, time will tell.

...Clan Plasma-Cannons normaly make near Zero Damage...but they overheat your Mech extremely fast ...IS Plasma-Rifles are better normaly...they are making the same Dmg as PPC´s and roasting the enemy Mech (Clan´s tried to Copy aned did not get it...of course MWO makes the Clans better)

I can see from the third person camera that this will be a good legacy for simulation fans...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not seeing heat management - I hope they're not 'arcading' MW into just spamming weapons, jump jets etc. It would be a shame to remove the excitement of salvage and building the perfect balance between firepower and heat generation - would dumb it down to just being a meh shooter.

It's all cool but why does Cicada has tons of armor, weaponry and speed? In terms of balance how fun is it? Limitations are making progression more interesting, no? Like why should I upgrade from Cicada to heavy Mech? Can someone explain me?

Man im surprised how many people got into BattleTech because of Mechassault. I always wanted to play it is a kid 21 years ago. I was 5 at the time and fell in love. It was wasnt till two weeks ago when I finally got to 80% that I bought the Beginner Box "FYI Only $25" and played my first classic Battletech. Man I'm hooked. I hated the state Battletech was in for a long time since it prevented me from getting into the game. I'm glad 20 years later i got into it after finishing accomplishing my childhood dream of being in the Army.

I am really looking forward to Clans, but @1:27:20 , I feel like any interpretation of of a Smoke Jaguar story where you aren't a bad guy is doing the game a disservice. I mean, the story is obviously set and stone and no UA-cam comment can change it, but look at Taxi Driver or the Joker... you can make a really compelling story about a "villain". I'd like to imagine a major reveal that your character is evil could be Turtle Bay or something. Smoke Jag is the most brutal and evil clan. Any redemption arc or going rogue would do them a disservice, I feel.

The gameplay, once modded, will likely have depth and be fair. The story had better not push current politics and had better be absolutely immersive per the old novels and not some soft California safe space interpretation of what it is to serve and conduct yourself in a caste system based on martial skill and personal honor.

Huh... ? Every bloodline Clanner mechwarrior is indoctrinated from start. And jade falcon was dickish even by Clanner standards. And Madcats wouldnt be Jade Falcon stock... they are clan Wolf unless someone lost one :D

It’s a shame they did not add the clan invasion in Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries, because it could add a lot of flavor make the game more interesting mid to late game. I played MW2 mercenaries back in the day and I did not know the lore. It was a huge surprise when the clan came and it was super cool. Suddenly you did not have the best mechs any more and a new hunt started to get the clan equipment and mechs. I go MW5 mercenaries including all DLC two months ago and I’m having a blast after 20 years brake from the franchise.
